Career Development Skills
Career Specialists and Advisors provide students with activities and exercises intended to build students’ skills in career-readiness areas. Our goal is to help students improve or grow their Resume writing abilities, interview skills, and understanding of professional conduct. Ultimately, our intent is to provide students with the opportunity to enhance their knowledge of the business sector and adequately understand professional expectations. Please be certain to read the D214 Internship Program information, as this program can provide many of these services in the work setting.
Resume Writing
Resume writing services assist students with translating their skills, knowledge, achievements, internships, and work experiences into a concise document intended to emphasize all of their best assets. Through the use of various resume writing tools, including Naviance and Career Cruising, students gain the understanding of what potential employers or colleges are looking for in a resume.

Interview Skills
Students are provided the opportunity to participate in mock-interview sessions that foster the confidence and skills needed when interviewing for future employment openings. Sessions encourage students to focus on the talents and benefits they would bring to a specific workplace, while giving them perspective on what employers are looking for when hiring.

Professional Conduct and Attitude
Students are supplied with information regarding appropriate behaviors within the workforce. While these skills are developed within the traditional educational curriculum, career advising focuses on how to take the skills learned in the classroom and transfer them to a work environment. Career Specialists and Advisors work with students to highlight the maintenance of proper hygiene, dress codes, attitudes, language, etc. for life after high school.
